Often called the “Bordeaux of Australia”, Margaret River first saw the commercial planting of grapevines in the mid-1960s when a report noted striking similarities in soil and climate with France’s premier wine region.
The comparison lives on today with Margaret River known for the excellence of its Bordeaux-style blends of Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon, as well as its stylish Chardonnay and Shiraz.
